Methodology and data source
Data source
All metal prices on this site come from MetalflowAPI, a service for real-time and historical precious metal prices. We fetch the spot price per troy ounce in US dollars together with current exchange rates.
Update frequency
Prices are fetched automatically several times an hour (normally every 15 minutes) and cached on our server so pages load fast. The time of the last update is shown at the bottom of every page. Daily historical prices go back to 1968.
How we calculate
Price per gram of pure gold = spot price in USD per troy ounce × USD/SEK rate ÷ 31.1035. The value for a given purity = price per gram × fineness ÷ 1000. For example 14k (585) is 58.5 % gold, 18k (750) 75 %, 22k (916) 91.6 % and 9k (375) 37.5 %. Karat converts to fineness as karat ÷ 24 × 1000, so 18k = 750.
Buyer prices
When we show what a buyer pays, it is an estimate (usually 60–85 % of spot value), not an actual offer from a specific company.
