About 21k gold
21k gold (875) contains 87.5 % pure gold. It is the standard purity for jewellery in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Turkey, and many people in Sweden own 21k bracelets and necklaces bought abroad or inherited.
Soft, yellow and heavy
The high gold content gives 21k a deep yellow colour and makes it fairly soft. Pieces are often solid and heavy, so even a plain bangle can be worth far more than the same design in 14k.
Hallmarks to look for
Arabic jewellery is usually stamped 21K, 875 or with Arabic numerals (٨٧٥). Turkish pieces sometimes read 21 ayar. Without a clear stamp, ask for an XRF test before you accept a quote, as some buyers assume 18k by default.
How the 21k gold price is calculated
Gold is traded internationally in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 g). We take the live spot price, convert it to Swedish kronor at today's USD/SEK rate (9.75) and divide by 31.1035. That gives the price of pure gold, today 1,239.50 SEK per gram. Because 21k gold contains 87.5 % gold, its value is that figure × 875/1000 = 1,085.65 SEK per gram, or about $111.34.
Worked examples with today's price
A 5 g 21k ring contains 4.38 g of fine gold and is worth 5,428 SEK. A 15 g chain is worth 16,285 SEK, and a heavy 25 g bracelet 27,141 SEK. If a buyer offers 75 % of spot you would receive about 12,214 SEK for the chain.
For comparison, 18k (750) gold is worth 930.55 SEK per gram, so the same 15 g piece in 18k would be worth 13,958 SEK — the hallmark matters as much as the weight.
Tips before you sell 21k gold
Weigh each piece on a kitchen scale with two decimals and subtract stones, steel springs and other non-gold parts. Keep 875 pieces separate from other purities, otherwise a buyer may pay the lowest purity for everything. Ask whether the quote is per gram of total weight or of fine gold, and whether testing or postage fees are deducted. Get at least three quotes — the difference between pawnshops, jewellers and mail-in refiners is often 20–30 %. Designer pieces and jewellery with certified stones are often worth more sold whole than melted.
