9k gold, hallmarked 375, contains 37.5 % pure gold. It is common in British jewellery and in mass-produced chains and signet rings, and is the lowest fineness that may legally be called gold in most of Europe.

Hard but pale

The high copper and silver content makes 375 hard and durable, but the colour is noticeably paler than 585 and it tarnishes more easily.

Melt value is low
