A bullion coin is worth its gold content plus a premium. The premium covers minting and dealing and runs 3–7 % for one-ounce coins, more for fractional sizes. When you sell, expect to receive spot to spot +3 % for common coins.
Fineness varies, gold content does not
A Krugerrand is 916 fine and a Maple Leaf 9999, yet both contain exactly one troy ounce of pure gold. The Krugerrand simply weighs more in total. Always compare gold content, never total weight.
