How to keep track of your gold

Weigh once, keep it forever

The hard part about owning gold is knowing what you actually have. Weigh each item on a decimal scale, read the hallmark inside the ring or next to the clasp, and enter it here. After that you never have to calculate again — the price updates itself.

Do not mix purities

A 750 piece is worth almost 30 % more per gram than a 585 piece. Enter them as separate holdings or the total will be wrong.

Coins are more than their gold content

Bullion coins such as Krugerrand and Maple Leaf trade close to spot, while older Swedish 20 kronor coins and collector issues often carry a premium. This tracker shows gold value; numismatic value needs a separate appraisal.

Insurance

Swedish home insurance usually caps jewellery and cash at roughly SEK 30,000–100,000. If your portfolio exceeds the cap you need an add-on policy or a safe deposit box — a screenshot of this list works as documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data stored anywhere?

No. The list lives in your browser's local storage on that device only. We never see it, and it disappears if you clear browser data or switch device.

Which price is the value based on?

Today's spot price of pure gold in Swedish kronor — 1,383.68 SEK per gram — adjusted for the purity of each holding. That is gross value, not what a buyer pays.

How do I find the purity of my jewellery?

Look for a hallmark: 375, 585, 750, 916 or 999. Swedish pieces often also carry a cat's paw mark and a date letter. With no hallmark, a goldsmith can test with acid or XRF.

Can I add silver and platinum?

Yes, choose the metal in the form. Silver is valued on the silver price per gram, platinum and palladium on their own prices.

Why does the 30-day change differ between holdings?

It is calculated per metal. Gold and silver move differently, so a portfolio holding both shows a blended result.
