24k gold price per gram today (999)

24k gold — hallmarked 999 or 999.9 — is pure gold with no alloy metals. It is the standard for investment gold: bars, wafers and most modern bullion coins are struck in 999 or finer.

Too soft for everyday jewellery

Pure gold bends and scratches easily, which is why rings and chains worn daily are made in 585 or 750. Asian and Middle Eastern jewellery is often 999 because it is bought as savings rather than as decoration.

This is the reference price

Every other purity is priced from the 999 gram value: multiply by the fineness and divide by 1000. That makes this page the baseline for all gold valuations on the site.

Gold is traded internationally in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 g). We take the live spot price, convert it to Swedish kronor at today's USD/SEK rate (9.79) and divide by 31.1035. That gives the price of pure gold, today 1,296.44 SEK per gram. Because 24k gold contains 99.9 % gold, its value is that figure × 999/1000 = 1,296.44 SEK per gram, or about $132.43.

Worked examples with today's price

A 5 g 24k ring contains 5.00 g of fine gold and is worth 6,482 SEK. A 15 g chain is worth 19,447 SEK, and a heavy 25 g bracelet 32,411 SEK. If a buyer offers 75 % of spot you would receive about 14,585 SEK for the chain.

For comparison, 22k (916) gold is worth 1,188.73 SEK per gram, so the same 15 g piece in 22k would be worth 17,831 SEK — the hallmark matters as much as the weight.

Tips before you sell 24k gold

Weigh each piece on a kitchen scale with two decimals and subtract stones, steel springs and other non-gold parts. Keep 999 pieces separate from other purities, otherwise a buyer may pay the lowest purity for everything. Ask whether the quote is per gram of total weight or of fine gold, and whether testing or postage fees are deducted. Get at least three quotes — the difference between pawnshops, jewellers and mail-in refiners is often 20–30 %. Designer pieces and jewellery with certified stones are often worth more sold whole than melted.
