About 22k gold
22k gold, hallmarked 916 or 22K, contains 91.6 % pure gold. It is the dominant purity in Indian, Pakistani and Middle Eastern jewellery, and is also used in Krugerrand and British Sovereign coins.
Rich colour, softer metal
The high gold content gives a deep yellow colour, but the alloy is soft enough that thin settings wear quickly. It is usually made in heavier gauges to compensate.
Selling 916 in Sweden
Swedish gold buyers accept 916 without issue, but many quote on gold content only — the craftsmanship of imported jewellery is rarely paid for. Compare quotes from at least three buyers.
How the 22k gold price is calculated
Gold is traded internationally in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 g). We take the live spot price, convert it to Swedish kronor at today's USD/SEK rate (9.74) and divide by 31.1035. That gives the price of pure gold, today 1,272.27 SEK per gram. Because 22k gold contains 91.6 % gold, its value is that figure × 916/1000 = 1,166.57 SEK per gram, or about $119.83.
Worked examples with today's price
A 5 g 22k ring contains 4.58 g of fine gold and is worth 5,833 SEK. A 15 g chain is worth 17,499 SEK, and a heavy 25 g bracelet 29,164 SEK. If a buyer offers 75 % of spot you would receive about 13,124 SEK for the chain.

Tips before you sell 22k gold
Weigh each piece on a kitchen scale with two decimals and subtract stones, steel springs and other non-gold parts. Keep 916 pieces separate from other purities, otherwise a buyer may pay the lowest purity for everything. Ask whether the quote is per gram of total weight or of fine gold, and whether testing or postage fees are deducted. Get at least three quotes — the difference between pawnshops, jewellers and mail-in refiners is often 20–30 %. Designer pieces and jewellery with certified stones are often worth more sold whole than melted.
